Milwaukee 6232-21 Deep Cut Portable Variable Speed Band Saw with Case Review

I have used Milwaukee power tools for 40 years and never had a problem with them. I have found them rugged, reliable, and they have all stood up a lot of wear and tear. I have had the same experience with Bosch and Makita power tools, but in the area of portable bandsaws Milwaukee seems to have the best reputation among the tradesmen i've worked with. So, when I needed one (I held off off for many years), I knew it would be milwaukee. I got this model for one reason: The Swag v4.0 Portaband Table is specifically made for the Milwaukee model #'s 6232-20 & 6232-21 portable band saws(the only difference that I can discern is that the 21 is the 20 with a plastic case). (For more information on the Swag V 4.0, see the swagoffroad website, or search for their videos on youtube.) For that reason, I did not consider the newer Milwaukee 62306N deep cut bandsaw which is more powerful and provides more speed control than the 6232-20. I recommend that you consult the Milwaukee website for comparative information.

However, for my application, i need the convenience of a small cutting table without wasting anymore floor space on my already crowded shop floor. The Swag v.4.0 Portaband Table is specifically designed for rapid setup only with one deepcut bandsaw -- the 6232-20/21. To use the 6232 with the Swag, just insert the blade in the slot, align and push the Milwaukee's footpad into the table slot, and tighten the red knob - a perfect solution for my application. (the basic Swag 4.0 is about $100.) This application accounts for most of my Milwaukee 6232 use so far. I mention this because if it weren't for the fact that I wanted the benefit of the Swag v4 stand, I would have probably got the newer 62306n. Note that the 62306n will fit (along with the Dewalt saws) the the less-convenient and less-expensive Swag v. 1-3 stands. But I was unwilling to sacrifice the snap-in convenience of the Swag v 4.0 and so my only option was the 6232. b.t.w., if you get the 6232 and Swag v4.0, i recommend that you get Swag's optional foot pedal - it's a terrific add-on. Amazon sells a similar foot pedal- MLCS 9089 Billy Pedal Foot Switch, 2 Step ON/OFF(Continuous Running) - that runs around $20 that would work fine as well. I use an MLCS on my drill press and it works fine.

That's the background to my purchase. now on to the saw itself. The Milwaukee 6232is fantastic at cutting light steel. I work mostly with 1/4" or less band iron, 1/2" cold rolled stock, and steel channels < 1". The 6232 cuts all of this with a 10/14 Milwaukee blade without effort. I also have the 18 and 24 tpi blades for thicker/tougher stock like stainless when i need it, but that doesn't happen very often. I have found that the 11amp motor is powerful enough for anything i want to do. It also has a slip-clutch built in to protect the direct-drive gears from damage in the event of a locking blade-bind. I haven't had this happen, but it's nice to know that this feature is built in. The 6232 also has constant-speed electronics, so the band maintains speed under load - a feature that to appeal in a production environment. Finally, it comes with a convenient, quick-release blade changing system. The speed control switch on the handle is positioned in the right place to be useful and is very effective.

The Milwaukee red plastic case is not in a league with the old metal Milwaukee boxes - but it's adequate enough. It also has a slot for a few extra blades, a nice feature. There's nothing about the Milwaukee 6232-20/21 that I don't like except the lack of a lock-on button, but i guess that was kiboshed by Milwaukee's product liability attorneys - certainly not a design flaw. Strongly recommended.

for the price if you have a small job you can not beat it. Used this for 7 old steam radiators and it worked great...you need to really watch your moisture though so make sure you have an inline filter to elimate any from your tank and keep you sand or shot in a very very dry and warm place...also keep in mind you need some real volume not just cfm...I have a job boss (porter cable) and it was a little lacking....used my brothers 30 gallon with less cfm but more volume and it was so much more efficiet to spray with. I think if you have realistic expectations you will like this unit. But if you have a big job or don't have a very good compressor then upgrade your compressor or hire out the work.

After hearing about the cubersome and heaviness of the pro max from other contractors. Tapco has come up with a winner in the Mini trax siding table. What a great idea to shift the material and not the table to make some very unique cuts. With thier hold down bar I can have my twelve year old cut the siding with totally saftey in mind. I showed my Mini trax to some other siders and I believe they are going to sell of thier pro max and pick up this new marvoulous item from Tapco. I am totally please with its compactness, its ease of transport and its use. I wish more companies would design thier tools around the need of the contractor and not the need of the tool. Lynco L605 Casual Orthotic - Neutral Heel with metatarsal pad, Insoles Review

This product is a great product. I road tested the product in Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival. This means I spent the better part of the two days on my feet walking and dancing to the energetic sound and rhythm rhe Island's Calypso and Soca music. In previous years, the soles of my feet would ache in particular the arch area and balls of my feet. With this orthotic inserted in my shoe I am pain free and this is the most comfortable walking and dancing experience I have ever had. The othortic, is comfortable in that it keeps your foot nice and dry, the arch support is great and you feel a stability to your ankles. The reason I gave it four stars is that you have to ensure that you use them in shoes that have a about a 1/2 size extra room or where you can remove the shoes original insole and replace it with the Lynco. The orthotic is well made and good qualit mateials are use, i expect it to last well.
