B&K Precision 879B Dual Display Handheld Deluxe Universal LCR Meter with Backlit Display Review

I used to own an Extech LCR meter but I gave it to a relative as a gift, because he needed it at the time and I wasn't using it very much. So years later I decided to buy myself a new LCR meter and I got this one.

It was a great meter during the 3 months it worked. All of a sudden it shows Err E02 on the screen and, in a short and terse support ticket, BK told me it is damage to the "microchip that operates the device", supposedly due to "static electriciy". Great.

I'll spare you the details of the rendezvous with the local technicians they referred me to. I was hoping it was a matter of updating the firmware or something like that, but it's not, it's really damage to the device and they will charge you almost the price of a new one to fix it. It's a dead device for all practical purposes.

I had the Extech for almost 6 years, no problems. I buy this one, more expensive and feature rich, and this is what I get after just a couple of uses. And I'm not the first customer with this exact same problem.

It is an overall better meter and more feature rich than the Extech, but it is too fragile and obviously not a completely finished product. This device lacks the circuit protection such a supposedly fragile microchip would require.

I reviewed this knife as though I were still a soldier and this was the knife I would carry on a tour of duty. I wish I had this knife back then. The weight is acceptable for something you add to the load you must carry along with water, ammo, rations, and weapons. It is very comfortable to hold and use and I really like the fact that the steel projects out of the back so the knife can be used as a hammer. The material and shape of the handle should help prevent your hand slipping when you are dirty and sweaty. I can easily see that you can use the knife by holding it in place (to cut off a limb or split a branch) and pounding on the back of the blade (which is the way soldiers use their knives). I think that, after a few months in the field, it wouldn't be nearly as pretty but it would be every bit as functional. For a duty knife I would look into a sturdier sheath but otherwise; Perfect!

Washable Carpet Stair Treads - Hop Scotch Beige Review

With 3 boys it is impossible to keep my carpeted stairs clean. I thought I would try a set of these, they worked perfectly. As other review stated they are a bit on the thin side but that makes them easier to throw in the wash machine (even larger runners can be washed in my large washer.) I ordered them about 2 years ago and they are still in great shape. I liked them so much I ordered an additional set for another set of stairs and 2 matching runners. They are able to custom cut so you can get the runners in any length you want. A great purchase, has saved me hours of cleaning!!
