This new 3-Piece Door Bit Set combines the New 99-761 Premier Adjustable Rail and Stile bits along with the 99-520 2+2 raised panel bit. This set allows the woodworker to build doors from 5/8 inch to 1-1/4 inch thickness and ANY length long tenon construction for rock-solid joints that last a lifetime. Top portion of cutter, including bearing and spindle, is removed to produce the front of the long tenon profile for blind tenons, through tenons, or bridle joints. Imagine creating rattle free flat panel doors. Adjustable shims enable both a tight fit when using plywood panels and the ability to use thick panels ( from 5.5mm to 6.35mm ). The unique cutter geometry virtually eliminates tearout. This set features Freud's 99-520 2 + 2 raised panel bit. Two small wings that cut downward and two large wings that shear upward, produce an extremely smooth cut in hardwoods, softwoods and even plywoods. This revolutionary design is combined with a backcutter so that, in one step, you can create a flawless raised panel door that is flush with the frame on both sides. There are pluses and minuses to this kit. On the plus side: Freud always makes high quality router bits that are machined to very high tolerances. This attention to detail leaves a very high quality cut with little to no burning. Setup is fairly straight forward with the included written directions. It does come with a mini dvd, but this leads me to the negative parts of this review.

Who the heck uses mini dvd's? They are a pain. My laptop doesn't even have a regular dvd drive anymore let alone a drive for a mini dvd, and the video's are not available on freud's website (I've checked). All my dvd players are so old that they no longer work. I ended up ripping the dvd to a mp4 file using my old computer circa 1999. I had to return my first set to amazon due to a defective proprietary wrench that is needed to disassemble the stile bit. This wrench is essentially a flat piece of metal with two metal tabs bent down on the end of it. It's very low quality and the tabs can be easily bent. I returned the first set because it came with a wrench that had a bent tab right out of the box.

Overall I am still fairly pleased with these bits despite the minor issues. Compared to their competition I think they are the best in their class. The biggest issue for me is the mini dvd thing, but this could easily be remedied if Freud would just post the videos on their webpage.
