ExStik Waterproof Fluoride Meter

Specifically designed for the quick and accurate measurement of fluoride ions in drinking water and other aqueous samples, the ExStik FL700 incorporates asensing electrode, measuring electronics, and isplay in one convenient package, making this unit ideal for field or laboratory testing. Fluoride is known to help prevent tooth decay, while too much fluoride is known to be bad for the teeth. The concentration recommended by the American Dental Association is 0.7-1.2 ppm. The MCL established by the EPA is 4.0 ppm. Fluoride is naturally occurring and in some areas in the US the natural level exceeds 4.0 ppm.

Features Overview

The FL700 is capable of direct reading of total fluoride from 9.99 ppm or mg/L down to 0.1ppm, and the meter provides automatic temperature compensation (±10 degrees C of calibration temperature). Other features include: automatic calibration; stability sensing to optimize accuracy; internal datalogger for storing up to 25 readings; direct reading of ppm units; automatic power off after 12 minutes to preserve battery life; and internal error detection. This device complies with EPA Method 340.2 (Potentiometric Ion Selective Electrode).

I have been testing water from tap, reverse osmosis, big berkey, and now custom water filters I am building. And wow this shows how much PPM of fluoride is in the water as well as water temp. This in combination with my TDS PPM gauge tells me a lot about the water quality.

What I found was Reverse Osmosis took tap water from 1.7 ppm to .3 fluoride, Big Berkey went from 1.7 to .3 fluoride, and with my friends refrigerator filter in combo with the Reverse Osmosis got fluoride to 0.0!!

This is a great way to test fluoride without spending $200 a pop on scientific tests.
