I ordered from Amazon Jan 2011 at a great special price with free ship. Delivery was excellent. Local shipping company called within 48 hours of ordering to set up a delivery time and came the next day. I told them I needed lift gate, no problem. Driver was great and used pallet jack to take to garage. Though it comes in two boxes, you could probably put on a furniture dolly and wheel it up your driveway if he won't. Machine was heavy and definitely needs two grown men to set on the pedestal or you risk damaging it. My neighbor wasn't around, so my wife did help and I feel bad. It was tough. You will need to clean the table with mineral spirits to get the factory coating off. Then clean with denatured alcohol. Then put a thin coat of WD40 or some protective wax or whatever you prefer to keep it from rusting while out of use.Yellow Flag: first thing I see is the metal plate where the pulleys go into the oil chamber was not a good fit and had clear silicone caulk around the outside. Screw heads rusty and paint flaking. Ok. I figure 2 year warranty I'll take a chance.
Red Flag: after I got everthing assembled which took about an hour, the power switch won't turn on. I plug internal cord direct and it works. So the problem is the switch. I took apart the switch and the metal contacts aren't fully touching. Bent them ever so slightly and put back together. Works fine now.
After 5 months of extremely light usage, I noticed the oil started leaking from where the clear caulk was at the bottom. After about a month the oil reservoir totally leaked out.
Well after calling Jet tech support (which was quick to answer), they told me Jet no longer puts a gasket on the gear box plate and just seals with RTV sealant. However, a local service shop (also quick to answer) said that was nonsense and I should see the edges of the black gasket (which I did through the clear sealant) and I should just tighten the screws (which I also did). That was when I noticed the drain plug (which I swear I checked when I first noticed trouble) was loose. So I tightened that too. Refilled with HD 40 gear oil and all is okay now.
So if you notice leaking oil, tighten the drain plug...LOL...if may have vibrated loose.
Otherwise, it is very quiet, cuts both metal and wood like butter and has variable speed settings. It is easy to change blades, line up the blades, guides, belts etc. Shop vac attachment works very well to keep dust down. It is a compact unit and not really bigger than the cheaper units sold at retail stores.
