I have been eyeballing this for over a year. It was difficult for me to spend this much for a knife when my 50 dollar k-bar KA-BAR US Army Fighting/Utility Knife Straight Edgeis just fine for camping. I finally pulled the trigger and can say unequivocally, it is completely worth it.

First this knife is waaay thicker than the pictures convey. I have a Becker tac-tool Ka-Bar Becker BK3 Tac Tool Fixed Blade Knife and this is almost as thick. It is nearly twice as thick as my army k-bar. The knife arrived with a bitingly sharp edge. It balances forward for chopping but the big belly makes cutting chores easy as well. The point of the knife (which is where most knives are weakest) comes to a triangle shaped point that makes piercing easy while keeping tip strength very high. You could pry with all but the extreme tip (last couple of millimeters really) of the knife. The handle is great. It is soft without feeling fragile and gives a great grip when I put my hand under the faucet to test. The stainless finish is perfect. The sheath is a servicable black leather that goes nice with the knife but is nothing fancy. I will probably get a custom at some point.

All in all I can say that I have about 7 fixed blade survival/camping knives, some high end Japanese kitchen cutlery, and a benchmade folder and this is the nicest knife of them all. Its a little disapointing its not made in America like the k-bar but Taiwan is not China and the quality doesnt suffer. To paraphrase Mr. Bueller. "If you have the means I highly recommend it."
