Domino Cutter and Tenon Assortment Systainer with T-LOC Review

I ordered this at the same time I purchased the Festool Domino machine, after reading several reviews of both the Domino and the Tenon Assortment. While not inexpensive, it is actually a good deal because it includes all of the sizes of dominoes and the cutters you need to use the machine for indoor joints. Other dominoes are sold by Festool that are designed for use in outdoor situations. The dominoes are all arranged in a divided systainer that will attach to the other Festool systainers for stacking, including the one the Domino machine comes in.
The cost of purchasing this set is less expensive than buying the packages of the wooden dominoes and the individual cutters separately. The Domino machine only comes with one cutter, and you need a different cutter for each thickness of Domino that you are using, so it is more convenient and less expensive to buy them all together. The variety of sizes included allows assembling thin face frames all the way to large, solid joints in furniture.
As far as how they work, they are much better, in my opinion, than biscuits. They provide much more stability in joints because they fit tighter than biscuits. The biscuits are designed to swell in a joint when they come in contact with glue, so they don't provide immediate stability when joining wood. The Dominoes are made of hardwood, and don't swell. They act as a tenon and fit tightly vertically in the slot (mortise) the Domino machine cuts, so aligning the top surfaces of face frames, for example, is perfect if you cut the slots properly. The width of the slots can be adjusted to fit the domino tightly, or with extra width with two additional settings to allow easy lateral adjustment if you need it. That is great for assembling multiple boards for table tops, for example. The top surfaces of the boards will match up exactly, but you can have some lateral adjustment so you don't have to worry about cutting the mortises exactly.
